Subject: Image Evaluation

Speaker: Barbara Gore

Photo Evaluation offers a framework to assess whether a photograph has successfully conveyed its intended idea, message, mood, or feeling, while also considering the image's creativity and technical execution. This presentation concentrates on the insights from an Image Evaluation course, highlighting the principles for assessing the success and impact of a photograph.  The objective is to equip viewers with a structured approach to critically analyze photographs, moving beyond simplistic 'like/dislike' judgments.

 Bio

As an outdoor enthusiast along with being a self-taught photographer, my aim is to capture the extraordinary in the ordinary.  I try to see the world through a unique lens, finding beauty and interest in the most unexpected places.  From trekking through the woods and NC mountains, to roaming city streets, to exploring the night sky - I am driven by a passion for discovery and adventure.

While I always had a camera in hand growing up, I was initially more of a casual snapshot enthusiast than a dedicated photographer. It wasn’t until 2012 when I started my self-taught photographic journey, I realized photography was more than just a snapshot, it was a creative vision.  While living in Charleston, SC I explored different photographic genres and had the opportunity to do free-lance work in product photography, portraiture, and real estate photography.  I have won awards and exhibited in both North and South Carolina along with photos published in a local South Carolina newspaper and magazine.

I’m always open to a new experience and love learning new photography styles and genres but my passion lies with landscape, nature, and the night sky.  I am currently a member of Mooresville Arts, Carolina Nature Photographers, Charlotte Camera Club, and former member of Charleston Artist Guild.
